Update Process

I'm just curious about something... In the middle of a pbem game (replayer) I got a red screen and some text mentioning something about an update process and things may not be as they appear.

I'm not sure what that really meant.

It means your opponent has a different version of the scripts to you for some reason. It should never happen in normal gameplay.

Hmm! I got it more than once now in MP, I wonder if it indicates someone has been TAMPERING around :P

I got that too - Could it be different versions? I am mostly playing with 1.6.1 on a Mac but also have been using 1.6.9 beta

The beta versions use a different server, so that should not be it. Unless you are both playing with different beta versions - it is possible that we haven't kept the server versioning up to date.

Nope, I'm talking about the regular plain Battlefield Academy version...

Guess I'll have to compile a list of SUSPICIOUS PLAYERS, haha.

Let me check out the code. I think that it is set up to report those kinds of discrepencies directly to me. If not, I might get you to PM me the details. Almost nobody would be altering scripts in the main game I don't imagine.

You might also mention it to you opponent. It could be unintentional.

Hmm, I'll keep an eye on it. Problem is I have the maximum allowed games running right now, so there's a lot of opponents to keep track of :P I can't even remember what scenarios these happened in anymore.

I assumed MAYBE someone updated from 1.6.0 to 1.6.1 and that could have caused it...

It's possible that that is the cause. The 1.6.1 beta seems to be going well, so we may well make it official, now that 1.7 has probably slipped into Jan :(.

Could we please add in the quick little GUI update where the bonus bullet to defending units are updated in the display? I consider this to be a BUG because it is no secret that these units SHOULD have the extra bullet, but instead it fails to display, and causes a lot of headaches, frustration, and damned mistakes by the phasing player.

I've added it to the wishlist post 1.7, but I don't think there is a clear concensus on this really - although I take the point that generally it is something you can track yourself if you so desire. So adding the option at least seems like it would be welcomed by at least one of our community ;).
