New Tester Comments

Post by Frosty »

My group here in Melbourne enjoyed our first FOG game. The cheat sheets work well showing a mass of info.

Our game was Crusader v Arab and highlighted how tough the knights can be and that Arabs need mavouevere space! After much Dbm we enjoyed the uncertainty of the morale tests and the fact they are so simple to carry out with important modifiers. We all appreciated the importance of using and moving generals very quickly.

It felt strange to be allowed almost automatic movement for units until close to the enemy. But then as units get tied up in melees the effect seems right.

Our main query was when do units such as steady spearmen count the plus factor for 2nd ranks? We had one unit losing 3 ele from poor death rolls so only one element was left in a 2nd rank. But we assumed the + factor still applied until the last element fell.

Otherwise we still have to learn about mutiple unit combats but they seem clear enough after playing the game. We look forward to many more games.

Hello Geoff,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the game.

The one file that still has a 2nd rank gets the +, the other 3 files don't. You need to dice separately for the bases with different POAs, or use different coloured dice for them.
