Localisation common issues
We had a first call in Germany yesterday, work to be started now.
We would like to propose some principal communalities between all the translations. Our first topic of such kind is the glossary:
a priori we would like to translate also the technical terms (test names etc) into German. This makes it necessary to extend the glossary in our mind. We propose to do a glossary in 3 columns
1.st column - technical term used in German
2nd column - the 'original' english term
3rd column - the description, translated of course
Question to all interested in localisation: does this concept fulfill the needs for gaming in an international context? Speaking about non IWF kind world-championship events, so your normal local tournament where you are happy and proud to have some foreign guests.
Thus practically a native german travels to France and has a french-english-german discussion with the umpire and everybody could quickly refer to the common english terms to find a basis for discussion while everyone has his own french respectively german books.
international views & comments please

continue this in the translaters lounge please
the abbreviations are a very good point!
To keep the forums to their purpose please continue this topic within the translaters lounge as we are not really discussion rule mechanisms in this thread.

Re: Localisation of Field of Glory
Gidday,
Will you be translating to Antipodean?
Is there any prospect of joining in Beta testing. I have played ancient wargames for over 30 years starting with WRG 4th ed.
Cheers
