Question on Elite Units

Post by gsmart04 »

I'm still learning the game, playing through the tutorial and I love it. I do have a question though. The manual says to upgrade the German units to SS you must 'rename' them. How, exactly, does one do that?? Did I read that right? And what is the 'Elite' button for on the game panel? When does it light up?

The elite button will light up when you choose a unit in Germany to upgrade. The name automatically changes to SS {current name} when you do the build.

You can rename units by selecting a unit, click on the name in the unit information box, (bottom left of your screen) a cursor appears and you can retype a name of your choice. Press 'enter/return' to make it stick, or it will return to the original name. You can only do this if the unit has not made any actions that turn, but you can use the unit as normal after renaming. The GS 2.0 manual has a section on how naming affects the icons that are used for different types of elite and national units.

Some units must have special text in the name to qualify for special status (e.g. SS -airborne, etc.) so be careful what you change and which words you use. :D
