Stockport Pick'n'Mix

Post by hammy »

I am running a multi ruleset tournament in Stockport on the 10th and 11th of December. I ran it last year and about 40 people turned up to play FoG, FoG:R and DBMM.

The tournament is called the Pick'n'Mix because players can Pick'n'Mix what they play. The event is made up of two one day tournaments each of which is self contained and there are prizes for each day. Players can play the same set each day or different ones. They can play one day or both days, whatever takes their fancy.

This year I will definitely be running:

FoGAM:15mm
FoGAM:25mm (assuming enough entries)
FoGR:15mm
DBMM:15mm

I will probably also be offering (entries allowing)
Warhammer Ancients
Clash of Empires
DBM
Flames of War Early War
And Dystopian Wars

The format of the comp is three games a day, FoG and DBMM are played to 650 and 240 points respectively on smaller than normal (5 by 3 for FoG) tables.

The minimum number of entries needed to make this work is 4 players for one day and 8 for two days (because I try to avoid playing the same player twice in the weekend and with less than 8 that is pretty much impossible). If there are fewer than 8 entries and all want to play both days I would be happy to do different themes on the two days and let the players choose the theme.

The cost of this event is £5 per person per day.

The venue is easily accessible by public transport.

The venue has a deal with a local hotel for a twin room including breakfast for £40 per night so £20 per person if you have someone to share with.

Payment can be made on the day but entries beforehand are really really handy.

Last year there were only enough FoG:R players for one day of FoG:R. I hope that this year we can get enough for both days.

I am also tempted to make the two days based on different themes but don't know if that would put people off. I rather fancy Italian wars you see ;)

On the same weekend Keith McGlynn is running a FoGR competition at Slimbridge, Glos. An unfortunate coincidence, but probably worrying only West Midlands players.

Yes, rather unfortunate but I am busy the weekend before at a FoW event and the weekend after is too close to Christmas. I am still hopeful to get 4+ FoG:R players which will allow for a one day comp.

For the moment if people who are interested in playing at this event can pop me an e-mail to hammy@the-riverbank.net and let me know I will see where things lead.

It is looking like the FoG-R will only be one day and on Saturday. If anyone else wants to play can you please get in touch ASAP.

Cheers
