That's pretty good. Perhaps, we should begin the Macarii clan here. :D

Apple's financial results represent growth of 36%, more than three times the industry growth rate with analysts forecasting an installed base in excess of 12 million Intel Macs by the end of 2007. A poll of Mac purchasers conducted by Apple shows that nearly 50% of buyers are new to Mac which implies that more and more Windows users are switching to Mac.

you know you want one, possum!
My first home computer was an Apple IIc. I used macs at work for years before I ever saw a PC. I do not speak from ignorance, but from experience :)

I would sooner jump naked on a huge pile of rusty razorblades than ever buy a mac.

Yes, Apple is in a growth period right now. They've had those before, in fact many times before. And in a few years their market share drops back to the same 10-12% of hardcore Apple fanatics.

A macintosh is like Hilary Clinton - loved passionately by a small minority, and cordially loathed by the vast majority.

Look possum, a man has a right to his opinion. But, I've got a real problem w/ the Hillary Clinton comment/comparison.

Question on upcoming Mac version. Currently have a PC but next computer is going to be a Mac. If I buy commander at war for PC now, will there be a patch where I can install run this on the Mac later?

No.

As an Intel Mac user, you'd have two options:

(1) Load Windows XP onto your Mac and use Boot Camp to boot into XP. Now, w/ Leopard (upcoming Mac OSX release), you'll be able to simply choose (restart in XP) through the Finder. While in XP, load the PC vrsion of CEaW - play on.

-or-

(2) Purchase the Mac version of CEaW, once it's released (which could be by the time you buy your Mac).

Obviously, you didn't read through this entire thread. Do you not play Slitherine games? Because 5 of their titles are available on the Mac. And, all the Paradox games. Plus others. But, if you're point is all the PC war games are not on the Mac, then you'd be right. But your not, because you said, "No wargames are available for Macs."

But, I am glad you're enjoying the war games.

What's the status on the Mac version? Will we see it before the end of the year or before MacWorld SF 2008 in January?

We thought we had a deal sorted out on the MAC but this seems to have fallen through unfortunately :(

We coudl try and do it ourselves but without any MAC expereince we're worried about the tech support problems. If it doesn't work we wont have a clue how to fix it.

use cider

Post by fabulousforrest »

use cider from transgaming. you don't have to change any of your game code and they will help you make it work. it is what electronic arts is using to bring their games to the mac.

That is not the issue, as the game is in Java it can be converted easily. We dont have any MACs or any MAC experience, so we really cannot support a game released on MAC, so it would not be fair to customers to release a game we could not properly support.

I'll be your tech support.

Don't give up. Did you approach...

...VP Ltd.?
...Freeverse?

What about simply contracting a Mac programmer?

I don't believe that. How could they know? Unless they ran the PC version in XP using Boot Camp.
