Fences - linear stuff

Post by Keith »

Hi all
I am finally having my first game this week , been waiting for my mate to get his army finished.
We are just going to set up a nice table and have a game , it will be his first game of FOG , I've played plenty of FOGA.

How do you play fences , I have some nice 28mm fences I want to put on the table.
Do they have any effect on movement ? IOr do you just use them to define areas of fields etc ?
How do you play them ?

Here is a picture of the fences.

there is a very handy type of terrain called linear obstacles - makes shot & dragoons count as protected if behinds it, but otherwise no obstacle to movement if not defended.
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

Why not enclosed fields?

Why not designate them as Enclosed Fields?

They count as obstacles, and are only available in a straight line, no angling of any kind permitted. As such they are different to enclosed fields, which restrict mounted troops' movement and cohesion for example.

I would suggest that they would most appropriately be used to designate enclosed fields. They don't really look substantial enough to merit classification as linear obstacles, though you could, of course, use them to designate those if desired.

Thanks guys , I'll plonk them on the table and use them as enclosed fields.
