Salvo shooting from Square

Post by daveallen »

Hi,

this cropped up at Warfare:

A Later Swedish 6 Pak formed Square as per the rules, but I can't find in the rules what happens if they want to shoot.

As there is one MF Salvo base on each edge can they shoot at all if there are no enemy BG stood in arc of two bases (ie. very close to one face or standing diagonally across one of the corners)?

Good question Dave,

My take - as there is nothing specific in the rules, then I think we need to take the rules as written. Therefore to "shoot" then the Swedes as "salvo" need 2 eligible bases to fire using one dice and therefore they require both bases on two sides of the square with both arc of fire and ahead of the fronk rank to be able to roll one dice to hit.

However if only one base is eligible to fire then I'm sure that the interpretation is that the base fire but with insufficient impact to require a dice roll.

Simplistically put, Swedes don't work well in squares and unless at least 2 bases can get an arc, then they have to sit and take it!!
