TCP/IP game issues

Post by frighteningfred »

Hello,

I started an ip game. The other pc was on our local LAN. Upon finishing up the first turn as the axis (1939 scenario) I hit end and then the covoy / lend lease phase came up. The pointer went to an hour glass and sat there. On the other pc the player could watch my moves but when I ended my turn his game locked up. He got an hour glass which he could move around but he could not do anything else.

Any thoughts on this?

regards

FF

Sorry you are having problems. How many times has this happened? What happens if you try again?

I have not had the opportunity to try again but will. I was just seeing if this problem was a known thing or perhaps new. I will retry and get back to you.
Thanks

There are problems with hosting games over a NAT firewall but if you are playing over a LAN you should both be behind the firewall and it should not be an issue. If you do have more problems let us know as we're trying to track down some glitches.

we were both on a lan but on a different subnet. Could be something in the switch but I doubt it. What about personal firewall settings? Does it care?

BTW-- both machines are XP PRO

thanks

Firewalls are definitely an issue. You may need to configure it to let one of you host. The client will be able to connect through a firewall, it's only hosting that is the problem.
