Probably a good idea not to have put that number in the manual. Looking at scenario start positions would suggest that anything from corps to army might be a better description.

Exactly.

Any wargame is a compromise between realism and playability. Too much realism, and the game becomes unplayable.

Nitpicking in the name of historical accuracy is a popular pastime within our hobby, but ultimately irrelevant.

well - the russians for example were about = 1 army for 1 corps when created, but they had smaller divisions and their armies were closer to that size. I would say 1 ground unit - corps, motor, armor = roughly the 50k number, but slightly less for other units - use manpower for example. If manpower = 5,000 then:
1 corps = 50,000
1 motor = 45,000
1 armor = 35,000
1 garrison = 25,000
etc...

Squadrons make it easy for you to manage large numbers of ships. A squadron is created by joining two or more ships together as a team. Each squadron can have a name which will appear in the game with the ships in that squadron grouped below it.

size depends on battle i guess with as many ship as you like in it, 2nd ww squadrons sizes altered alot depending on sides and areas from a few ships to massive armada's with hundreds of ships.

The scale is very large, so I think I used 750 combat aircraft as a guide for 1 unit - at least at the start. I would use the same Manpower numbers but I don't know how accurate that is - as I said 1 manpower = 5,000 so that would make the ships staffed accordingly. Ships are more like fleets of ships.

possible solution

Post by frighteningfred »

You could setup a new battle place one attack and then check the casualties status sheet. That can give you idea of losses then just divide that by the number of the unit attacked's strength reduciton?
