is there a way to have png files with real units instead of square icons thanks for any info.for example using panzercorps png icons

You could do it but you would have to mod them in. I'm not sure how clear it would be but you could experiement. You'd need to visit the Matrix forum for info on how to mod the game as the active community is over there.
