So i finally managed to get along to install the beta and start testing. Sorry for the delay but the invite come at a time where life demanded lots of attention. Now i am back in business tho and kicking.
As i haven't finished the 1940 DLC yet i will start with the pre defined core. After a bit of thought i decided to play it on General difficulty. From what i seen not many testers seems to play at this difficulty level and as FM is usually the end of my abilities i think General will suit me well for the first play through.

I just have to say I luv your forum avatar. Somehow, it seems to match your name perfectly, and no one else has it. I wonder what'll become of it once you hit 3k forum posts and beyond?Blathergut wrote:I enjoyed General level. Each time I've tried Field Marshall too many troops end up slaughtered on my side!
Sorry off topic.

Invader's in my thread! Start the general mobilization, start the counter attack, repel them, defend the "Vaterthread" at all costs
Some comments to the starting force: The general composition seems to be quite ok tho a bit to tank heavy for my liking. I personally would prefer to have at least one more recon unit and maybe one more artillery piece instead but it certainly does the job for the first scenario and can be easily customized after. The experience level seems right to me considering one can import his own core force that have played two DLCs already. The amount of overstrength seems a bit to high tho. Most of the units are at 12 strength, not sure if my own core force would be in that good shape but then i do not know how much prestige one can gain in the DLC 39 and 40 ... damn you days could you not have 48 hours so i get enough time to play.
Comments about the first scenario following soon.

Scenario 1: Belgrade
Outcome: DV in turn 17/18
Starting prestige: 3000
End Prestige: 3291
Unit losses: 1 auxiliary infantry
No changes done to the core force, no units bought. The scenario overall seems not to hard. I was able to conquer every single flag on the map and score a DV in time. The counterattacks from the Yugoslavian Cavalry can be a proper pain tho. They badly mauled my Panzerjäger down to 1 point of strength, it survived by pure luck. This is exactly the reason why i would like to have more recons. One could see them coming before they do something silly.
As i suspected, for my strategy at least, the core force is a bit tank heavy for this scenario at least. Especially in the late half of the scenario where my push focused on Belgrade itself half of my tanks was more or less useless and left behind to not stand in the way. Granted others may utilize the forces in different way.
I like the new and improved StuG but still with a range of 1 it's a bit tricky to utilize. Not sure if would add one to my force over a proper artillery piece. I am just a range junkie. Already the Nebelwerfer with a range of 2 are tricky to get into range at times.
Bugs and problems: The both Romanian officers in Belgrade braking the trigger bug was already reported but i think i found another one: One of my Ju88 disappeared simply. It wasn't shot down, i did not disband it, it isn't listed in the casualties list yet it is not there. I doubt it but possibly i forgot him somewhere and he run out of fuel and crashed but even then shouldn't it be listed under casualties? I can provide screenshots and save game after the last turn for this. Sadly as always i forgot to save every turn as i wanted. Maybe this could be implemented at least for the beta? Kind of like the autosave function already saving every turn but instead of overwriting the same file it generates a new save for each turn. This could help in case like this "vanished" Ju88 to find out what really happend.

I believe that planes that run out of fuel don't show up as a casualty. Best way to avoid that is to cycle through your unused units by using the Next button. If you come across a unit you don't want to move or attack with, then you can put them to "sleep" for a turn by using the Zzzz button (this removes them from the Next button rotation). As far as saving after every turn, that could be problematic since it would generate a heck of lot of save files. I find the best way is to save after about every 3-5 turns. That way, if you have a major mistake (like losing a plane to no fuel), then you can go back a few turns without restarting the scenario.Tarrak wrote:Bugs and problems: The both Romanian officers in Belgrade braking the trigger bug was already reported but i think i found another one: One of my Ju88 disappeared simply. I don't really mind losing that bloody bomber. If i really fucked up and forgot it and let it crash it's my own fault and i deal with that. The saves would be just useful to analyze such problems in case it wasn't my mistake but some bug that make it disappear. To prevent generating to many saves you could just limit the max amount to for example 100 or 200 and then start overwriting them.
