Blitzkrieg France

Post by Grunewald »

Servus,

First off: As i started the campaign, i thought it would be easy as german to wipe out the enemy... I learned my lesson - thanks for that
But now i'm in the 7th campaign-scenario (Attack of the brits? i play in german (native)) - and i don't get it... it's not that, that i would not be able to win. Thats not a big deal. But one single matilda tank is able to destroy up to 5 of my units until i get him. They hit with nearly every single shot, while mine hit nearly never. Flanking with my AT-Tank is successful in about 1 out of 4 shots. Same while i'm getting behind a matilda. My 88s have the same problem. In most cases, they don't even hit the target. If they do, the chance of destroying the target is about 1 out of 3. 2 shots of a matilda and my 88 is history... (not flanked, not from behind - distance between 3 an 5 hexes).
Infantry from the front with explosives destroy my PzKW IV! Not to speak of my "Panzerjäger I" (AT-tank) (fired 3 times - did not hit anything).
Any idea why my units miss that often (while the brits hit nearly every time)?

Thanks,
von Grunewald

Make sure you put your side on hold fire, wait until the last possible moment then "unleash hell". I find infantry very good against tanks, as long as they can get close or manage to ambush passing tanks. I tend to find AT guns are ok for the first few turns but are usually easily over-run and wiped out. They need plenty of infantry to cover them, the problem is the infantry can "bug out" that then leaves the AT gun by itself.

They are on hold fire. But it seems i did not make my point clear... sorry. What really bugs me, is: i fire once -> miss, second shot -> miss, enemy turns around, fires -> hit. My unit is down. Next of mine fires -> miss. Fires - bounced. Enemy shot hits -> my second unit is gone. Thats my point

Yep can be annoying when that happens.. I had a german armoured car take out a matilda of mine, I used both shots on my turn on the armoured car and missed with both, AC fires back on his turn and destroys my tank, guess its the luck of the roll

Grunewald,

Check the range you're shooting at (tile-wise). If I remember correctly, you need to get in closer in BlitzKreig compared to Normandy/Bulge scenarios.

The ranges are curved ... one tile away distance would be 100m, two tiles 300m, 3 tiles 500-600m, etc.

But yeah, the string of misses? ... You're getting reamed by the Ream-Domizer

The combination of both (range and reamed) ... R&R  ... drives me up the wall!

By the way ... What are you shooting at? ... target size makes it even worse ...

... You got a big tank, they got a smaller tank...
... You got a small gun, they got an even bigger gun ...
... You roll "snake-eyes", they roll "box-cars" .... !!!!
... What the :?: :?: ...
