Dont forget to save your game!

Post by tex »

PC XP Professional SP2

I have found that (on my system) the game tends to occasionally malfunction after an hour or so of playing. That means, the screen freezes (mouse etc.) and there is no response to any keyboard input including Alt/Ctrl/Del. The music tends to carry on though.

That is ok in a "thats what software does" kind of does that way. Rather annoyingly however the last malfunction wiped out the previous twenty or so battle history so when I restarted I had to resume from my last manual save rather than the last battle point.

The moral? make sure you manually save the state of the game, especially after some of the more tricky battles!

Thats really strange as the game has been very stable up to now. Do you have other programs running in the background such as outlook? Are you using a digital download or boxed copy? You shoudl be able to load last session as well as last saved game, these are both autosaved. Could you be low on diskspace?

Hi, there is a bunch of stuff running in the background that could access the internet (Microsoft update, Panda Security etc) but I don't think Outlook Express was running at the time.

I have a boxed copy, 2G ram and about 15G free disk space.

The previous 2 or 3 occurances did recover from the previous battle. I was a little distraught with the last one because I was running through on very hard then found I had to do much of it again. It was the loss of the autosave that upset me more than the crash.

It really shouldn't happen at all though :) When does it go wrong - exactly what do you see before it crashes?

Actually i think it happened to me too once with LA. Not sure what i did but considering that i've been playing LA for the last 2 years on a regular basis it's not bad...still, when it happens it's indeed a annoying.

Its more a hang than a crash. Suddenly the movement on the screen stops and none of the controls work. Only the sound system carries on. I just see a frozen screen from the last position I had reached.

Ok thanks - exactly when does it freeze? On the results screen? At the end of a battle? When you click a button?

Each time it has been (mid?) in the battle, I think it was while I was moving about the battlefield using the mouse.
