We have plans for a Mac version, but we cannot say at this point when it will be ready. We will keep you updated on that of course :)

It's not easy being a Mac despite the commercials :)

It's not as bad as it sounds. The game is developed in Java, which means it is platform independent.

...And, what about Parallels 3.0? Anyone had tried it? I think it doesn't works because the DirectX 9.0, not supported by Parallels 3.0, but in some forums, people can arrange games in a similar situation.

sure, i can run it in bootcamp if it want, but my point is they said they were going to do a mac version. posted on insidemacgames.com to that effect. implied that release would happen at the same time. to not have even started makes me feel played. when i feel played, i don't play. more importantly, i don't buy.

As stated above - the game is Java based which makes it very easy to port to MAC.

iain,

i did note that. however, this statement

"We have plans for a Mac version, but we cannot say at this point when it will be ready"

seems to indicate a lack of interest/urgency/whatever. it may, in fact, be easy to do, but clearly it is not (yet) being done.

Seems that it isn't a real interest to make it for mac in a short time. I don't know if it's true or not, but the news here aren't encorageous.

Repeat the question: Anyone had tried the game on Parallels 3.0?

P.D.: Sorry my bad english...

It's likely Freeverse or VP will publish the mac version, as both of them have worked w/ Slitherine in the past. My only concern is what it would sell for. If the PC version is $50 US, then that equates to $60 US for a Mac version unless they wrap it in Cider.

If you want to do graphics work, Mac is best, hands down, no argument.

But if you want to play games, buy a real computer.

The honest truth is that Macs make up about 10-12% of the home computer market.

You can complain all you want, but the cruel economic facts of life are against you. It just doesn't pay to make Mac versions of games. You have no business berating Slitherine for being subject to hard cold economic realities.

Don't get carried away possum. Was anyone here complaining about owning a Mac? Or, are they just looking forward to having this game on a Mac? And, intel Macs can load XP and play it, if they wanted. Might need to ask why we're willing to wait. Apple reports quarterly profits in excess of 500 million dollars. Would you like 10-12% of that? It's actually less than that to be honest, IIRC.

How about EA's announcement a few weeks ago? Six AAA titles released for the Mac this coming July & August. Transgaming's Cider technology is making this possible. 8)

Btw, other Slitherine games available on the Mac:

(1) Legion (own it)
(2) Spartan (own it)
(3) Gates of Troy (own it)
(4) Legion Arena (own it)
(5) LA: Cult of Mithras*

wrong.

they said they were going to do it. if they hadn't said it, i would have no ground to stand on. since they did say it, i have the high ground to stand on.

and, BTW, the world is changing. EA moving a number of their best titles to mac. they are looking at the numbers differently than you are. of the 88 to 90% (to use your stat) of the home computer market that isn't mac, how many are game capable machines. a much smaller number. how many of the macs currently being sold are, nearly all of them. and the number being sold is increasing. it is an opportunity for anyone that wants to open their eyes.

ah, triari, you beat me to the post. :)

more grist for the war machine :)

Apple's financial results represent growth of 36%, more than three times the industry growth rate with analysts forecasting an installed base in excess of 12 million Intel Macs by the end of 2007. A poll of Mac purchasers conducted by Apple shows that nearly 50% of buyers are new to Mac which implies that more and more Windows users are switching to Mac.

you know you want one, possum!
