Have you seen this animated battle map? I don't know how accurate it is, but certainly an amusing and entertaining concept!stockwellpete wrote:Thank you everyone.Currently play-testing Battle of Kosovo 1389.

I have come across the website before, but I assume I need Powerpoint installed to run the animation - and I don't have it. Total War have a 5 minute rendition of the battle on YouTube which is quite good.ZeaBed wrote: Have you seen this animated battle map? The Ottoman army was quite a bit bigger than the Serbian army at Kosovo so in the play-test I have 800pts playing 600pts - but I haven't as yet given the Ottomans any fortifications (stakes) in the centre. I will see how the first few battles turn out first. I want a 2:1 balance in favour of the Turks in this one.

Very interesting depiction - and the Serbians are shown as having artillery as well. I have altered my scenario accordingly.ZeaBed wrote:Have you seen this animated battle map? I will be doing Nicopolis next and then Ankara after that. Both should be ready in a fortnight or so.ZeaBed wrote:stockwell: Once you get PP and manage to access the Art of Battle site, check out also the animation for the battle of Ankara (Ottomans against Tamerlane). That is one battle that should be gamed in FoG, if it hasn't already.
Both great and bloody battles, stockwell. The art of battle website gives a new meaning to the phrase "death by powerpoint", lol. Am looking forward to your versions of both of them. Nicopolis should be challenging and interesting to game. Reading about it reminds me of Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror, The Calamitous Fourteenth Century, which focused on the Sire de Coucy, who was captured in that battle and died in captivity some time later.stockwellpete wrote:Very interesting depiction - and the Serbians are shown as having artillery as well.
