Docile Naval AI

Post by Gersen »

Playing my first game of GS 2.0. Last played CEAW years ago and really impressed with the improvement - far more immersive. But...

As Allies, I have seen very little of the Axis Navies and its now Feb 1941. No sight of the Italian navy in the Med whatsoever, and no U-Boats either (though I religiously escort every convoy with 2 or 3 units). I am playing at a minor advantage to ease myself into the game, but that shouldn't stop the AI should it?

The AI is hopelessly incompetent as Axis. It's not very good as Allies either, but it can at least provide enough challenges to keep the game somewhat interesting.

I think this difference helps to illustrate the point that so many of us have made--playing Axis is a lot more challenging than playing Allies.

Yes the Axis AI is very poor. I currently have a WW1 situation with them not really progressing past Holland. The Italians have not reinforced North Africa and I am in charge there. This is all right as this is my initial run through, but does anyone know if it improves if I ramp up the difficulty? Does the navy get proactive, or is difficulty mainly about the amount of production points available?
