2 gliches

Post by ericdoman1 »

Hi

When I click on Latin Greece Achaian army in SAS an error message appears

"Formation missing ...."

Secondly found to my surprise that Ilkhanid Mongol dismounted cav (MF) actually evade when charged?

Not sure if this happens to all dismounted cav.

Cheers

Yep, got that one too.

I think it's the Catalanian ally who's the culprit in this case.
If you select Cavalls alforrats as your Ally commander, there's a missing image

Haven't tested evading dismounted cav.

EDIT: Okay, so I still don't know whether the MF will evade (can't get the bloody AI to charge the buggers *LOL*), but you can set evasion-settings on the dismounted Ilkhanid Mongol. Also on the Mamluk Egyptian, so it looks like a universal problem.

Here's the weird part:

troops id="4" commander="1" nationid="1" name="Less well equipped Mongol cavalry" nameIT="Cavalleria Mongola Meno Equipaggiata" nameGE="Weniger Gut Ausgestattete Mongolische Kavallerie" nameFR="-" nameSP="-" folder="mongol" image="mongol-Cav-cavalry-g" training="1" armour="4" rangedweapon="2" impactweapon="0" meleeweapon="5" experience="2" trooptype="1" min="0" max="0" or="1" and="0" multiplier="0" stakesTF="0" rearranks="0" dismountTF="1" training2="1" armour2="4" rangedweapon2="1" impactweapon2="0" meleeweapon2="5" experience2="2" trooptype2="4" medieval="0"

By the looks of it (assuming that I'm reading the XML-file correctly) they become MF as they should when dismounted, so if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that one of the patches has resulted in a switch not being toggled, resulting in MF that works normally, but still retain the evade-capabilities of the cavalry it started out as.
Just to be sure I tried changing evade-settings on 'normal' MF, which is a no-go.
So while I haven't trawled through all the army-XML (I do have a life...) I'm willing to bet vital parts of my anatomy on the flaw being in the engine not setting a flag when dismounting, instead of in the troop-definitions.

Hi C I

Sent message to Keith Martin Smith as well who replied and so both are being rectified.

How did you manage to paste the army list onto your reply.

I clicked on Print Screen but could not copy and paste to him

You can't paste directly into the message.
What I do is first import it into Paint (by PrtScr and pasting), crop it and whatever else needs doing, then upload it to a image-server (ImageShack in this case). Then you can link the image through an URL.
AFAIK you can't upload pics directly, so while this is a round-about way of doing it, it does work.

Something else just occurred to me, though I haven't been able to test it yet.

If there's a missing toggle when dismounting cav to MF, it might be worthwhile to check whether other switches aren't toggled either.
For example, if I dismount my HYW English Knights so they become foot knights, will they still be affected by charging into stakes since they are originally mounted knights?

Unfortunately, the only way to test it is in a DAG game (since you have to dismount in the set-up), and I have thus far been unable to get the AI to pick archers with stakes, so if someone has the time to set up a DAG game just to test this, that would answer one more question.

And of course, if DAG games were available as hot-seat, all this would be a snap to test....(hint, hint..)

A very good point

Hi C I

Not sure about that one. Also would dismounted cav/kn, gain a +1 for charging MF in the open? Of course there is a lot more as well.

When dismounted the range for the cav is 3 hexes not 4 hexes?
