A Couple of Questions

Post by gareth121 »

I have read through the rules several times now and the following questions arise.

Scythed Chariots.

What happens to these if they get too close to the rear edge to wheel? As far as I can see they must just sit there as they have no other movement options. Rather odd for such a troop type.

And what happens if they are induced to charge and their charge would take them at least a fraction off table. (Assume their target successfully evades out of the way or evades off table). You can't voluntarily leave the tabel and only routs and evades are identified as a legitimate means to leave the table.

Formations and changes of Formation

If I have a BG of 6 Cavalry is it a legitimate formation to be in a 6 wide line. I can't see why it isn't - although it is not mentioned in the section on permissible formations, it is a 'rectangle' and the shooting POAs and shooting rules seem to make this an optimum formation in some circumstances. Now on the assumption that is is a permissible formation how does it contract. It can drop 2 bases which would make it a 4 and a 2 which is not permissible.

Gareth,

Can you get JD to put you onto the beta forum and ask this question there rather than in the public forum.

Cheers

Gareth
6 wide is a valid formation.
It contract to either 5 or 4 wide, with 1 or 2 in the rear rank - this is a valid formation as thes are both rectangles with only the rear rank not full.
