Beta '39 and '40 Campaigns complete!

Post by IainMcNeil »

Thanks for all your feedback - it has been invaluable in making these campaigns.

The beta is now complete and GM installers being built and tested in preparation for release next week.

Beta serials are being removed from the sevrer to make way for live serials so you will not be able to log in to multiplayer in the beta version from now on.

Thanks for the invitation in the beta !
Is the NDA still in effect (untile release) ? Can't wait to share all the goodness :p (plus there are a lot of interesting discussions about core compositions and use of different troop types going on in the forums at the moment, DLCs tend to shuffle things quite a lot on those subjects).

I hope that this will be a successfull and commercial hit for Slitherine.
Our devs deserve that, for all their hard work.

Guys should we continue testing?
I was planning on playing over the weekend and writing anything I found out Monday.

I also will test this badboy right up until release, ya never know what you might find (although to be honest, it is just too addictive to stop playing.). Congratulations on the exemplary product and thank you for the opportunity to test it.

If you really want to continue testing, the most important item right now is stability not game balance. We added in several new functions and a new interface to handle extra campaigns, and making sure it works 100% on a variety of Operating Systems and under all manner of circumstances is pretty important.

Just don't burn out on testing. DLC 1941 will be ready for BETA testing next week or the week after, there's a host of other balance changes that could use more testing, and there are still four more DLC years left to follow that. :P

Campaign 39 and especially 40 are very good, although personally I wished for some of the missions to be just a tad harder, but they are still awesome.

I am, however, looking the most forward to fighting the endless Red hordes. Nothing like 15+ str KV tanks vs PzIIIs to make things interesting.

They're 20 strength KV1s if you play Manstein. :P

Wait, WHAT?! This is the best news I have heard all day! I didn't think 1941 would be available for months, I am pumped!

Are beta 3 saves compatible with release version of DLC ? And more importantly, will release DLC40 core saves be importable in DLC 41 beta ?
Trying to have a core quickly up and ready for upcoming test (if I'm selected again) :p

While you guys were all busy testing 1939 and 1940, my slave driver... er.. boss Iain demanded 1941 enter production.

So before 1941 is finished going through test trials, 1942 is already being made. Once 1942 is pushed to testing, 1943 enters production. And on and on goes the link.

It's full time work from an entire team of people. How else can we justify charging money for the product?

I would assume BETA3 Cores and save files will NOT be compatible with Release.
DLC 1941, when released, will be fully compatible with any existing DLC 1940 save file the player already has. (Testing phases will generally NOT be compatible or may suffer instability/balance problems)

In other words, if you play DLC 1940 20 times and preserve 20 different cores, you can choose any one of these 'teams' to enter the new challenge of DLC 1941.

So I say this with fingers crossed.
Will your beta team from the first two be selected for the remaining new campaigns?
I truly love this game and would be happy to continue to devote my time and resources to it.

I couldn't have said that any better. The betatesting experience with the PzC team has been simply awesome. I hope Lordz and Slitherine receive lots of much-deserved praise for the new content. :D

Yeah, I am already in full Panzer Corps promo mode on Google+.

I.e. I just linked the November/October newsletter with the DLCs and babbled about how wonderful and even better than Panzer General the game is and how accessible yet deep and how well made the DLCs are.

One thing I'm not to clear about...

I understand that beta 3 saves will probably not be compatable with beta 41 games, makes sense that it could caus eunstability and that.

However say I chose to purchase the 39+40 DLC on release (yeh ok so thats a given!) and then am involved in the 41 beta would I be able to use 40 saves to test the 41 beta?

Think it would be nessasary for testing otherwise how would we know the DLC is balanced for imported cores?
