A proposal for an UI change

Post by huertgenwald »

Currently playing US west coast.

In the beginning of every turn i let my luftwaffe do the first strikes.
To do so, i have to scroll down the WHOLE LONG unit list every time.
(Yes, i'm lazy)

I propose to introduce a selection menu similar to the buying screen
and grouping the core & aux army into the 9 respective catagories.

Would make finding specific units much easier :?:

I suggest kind of a matrix at the top the unit list, like so:

Guys at Slitherine, comrades in the "Wehrmacht" : your opinion ?

Awesome idea.

I had also suggested (way back when) that there be a sort button to be able to sort on name.

Very easy things to put in there, but so far we still wait.

Or put all units into a collapsable tree structure as in the windows explorer (left pane) :?:

Just hit the tab key for air power and look at map. You can then move each piece.

Or hit the tab key, then the N key for next unit and cycle them.

Much easier than the list.

Sorry Razz, probably i'm too demanding, but that's not gonna suit my playing style.

Why ? :

1) Starting the map i first move ONLY my fighters to gain air superiority quickly.

2) Then i move my dive bombers to obliterate choke points and hard targets.

3) My level bombers see action.
When all allied fighers are down, a new order steps in :

Old no 1 becomes step 3
old no 2 and 3 move one step up

4) artillery barrage
5) my tanks move
6) infantry moves

No ATs or AAs in my offensive games.

It's a bit schematic, but a quick selection of army branches would be helpful, not just air/land with the TAB key.

To moderators : i tried to use HTML in my post (<ul> and </li>) but that didn't work ??
Have to use Code button, i guess ?

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with just selecting units by directly clicking them on the map/board?

If you always move all your fighters first, don't you run into the problem of your ground units discovering enemy aircraft in the fog of war, but you have been left with no fighters left to activate?

Not really Kerensky, those are gone after 2-3 (max) rounds
(or have to regroup at airstrips), thanks to my quite huge and powerful Luftwaffe :!:
And playing the cards i know where to look for the first strike :D
