We now have increased unit maximums

Post by Xiggy »

But are the unit minimums increased as well when the point totals go up? I am playing a large game for me and the unit max for the Cuman Cavalry went up from I think 46 to 55. I do not think the minimums went up. Should they not both go up?

As the scaling is currently implemented I believe only maximums are affected, not minimums.

I always preferred a percentage system, where 10-20 percent of your army is x troop type, 5-15 is y, etc. I would also prefer lists for the major players, where you cant have all superior troops x.

Roman armies are the biggest offenders. They did have green troops. They actually had the first boot camps, so they should have a minimum of average and a small percentage of poor troops. The same could be said for all the mounted parthian type, or sarmatian type lists. Not all the lancers were superior.

When we fight on the table top as well on the computer screen, we should have the same hard choices the generals had. They knew which troops were green and which were veterans. They also knew which veterans were not very good. We are given the armies after they have won a campaign, and have great moral. But we are given them in the numbers they had before they fought. What I mean is we know say that Caesar had 25000 infantry, 9000 mounted at the beginning of the campaign. They won so we are given all veteran superior troops at these numbers. I would like to see a set where we have to take the armies where we know about 25-30 percent of the army from past battles, but the last 70 percent are unknown moral. Maybe a random number is rolled at first contact to see what moral they will have.

Option for FOG 2 or 3.
