Attack Key Stops Working
Currently I'm on the BA Demo.
Part way through a game; when I get the big red upside down arrow over a target, I'll try to click on it to initate combat but instead of getting the choice boxes of what kind of attack, I'll just get the large unit info box on the left side of the screen.
The only way I'm able to fix the problem is to save game, then exit to desktop and then re-initalize the game, loading my saved game.
a) can this be fixed?
b) is it just having to do with the demo? And not the actual game.
I'm liking what I see and would want the base game plus the Blitz expansion, but if this problem is something I'd have to live with after buying those it just might not be worth it.

It sounds like the CTRL key is getting stuck in the down state (in the game) in some way. Tapping it should solve the issue. Are you using CTRL in any key combo to tab out of the game or anything like that? I'm assuming you're on PC, but I guess now the Mac version is out there I have to ask
.

I had a similar issue in one of the scenarios and it definitely wasn't the CRTL key.
I could picks targets but it wouldn't let me execute the attack. Also, movement was restricted for some units. It wouldn't let me
move forward, though I could move back towards the starting area. Many spaces were affected in this way (i.e. not just ones occupied
by enemy units).
Oddly, some reinforcements weren't affected, and somehow I will won the scenario
This hasn't happened any other time, and I've played all the way through the basic scenarios.

Is this on the PC?
I'm trying to think what could cause something like this. Are you playing fullscreen, or in a window? And are you using the left only, or the left/right UI mode?
If it should happen again, can you try holding down the mouse button for a few seconds to see if that fixes it. When you couldn't move to specific spaces, were those spaces still showing as being 'moveable'?
Thanks for reporting this. I will go through the code again and double check. It's obviously something very intermittent, but that doesn't reduce it's annoyingness when it rears its head

Pip,
I don't know if this is what Peter is seeing, but I'm having a movement related issue as well. I can select the unit and the green boxes (move, hunt, etc), pop up but it looks like hunt has been pre-selected (its box is darker green), but it all just stops working there. I can't select, click, or doing anything to actually make the unit move. At least some of the hot keys are still working (I can go to map mode), but have to click to move to next turn (and sometimes things are okay the next round) or exit the game.

Pip,
PC & I'm using the left/right UI. It just recently started doing this (I've had the game since it came out & not seen this problem). It affects all units. I can actually select any unit I want, I just can't move or fire them once I have. It's really odd, b/c it doesn't always happen (i.e., the game works fine sometimes).

Can I ask some more from you guys. I want to just be clear where it breaks once it breaks.
So, you have a unit selected. If you then right click on a tile, do the buttons move into a vertical stack (ready to be actioned), or do they stay horizontal and follow the mouse?
If they pop up into an actionable stack, do you see the buttons highlighting as you move the cursor over them?
When you attempt to press the button, what happens? Does the button show it's down state when you press it? Do the buttons return to their horizontal state, or stay as they are when you tr and press them?
Sorry for the details request, but I cannot repeat this here no matter how I try.
Cheers

OK - I think I got it. It goes up there with some of the nastiest bugs I have seen though! I only repeated it by careful placement of the icons as I held to cancel them, and then selecting other buttons in the right order. But with all you guys playing, it was bound to happen 'by chance' enough to be a problem
.
I think it is fixed. I will try and get the new code into the (very) soon to be released 1.6.1 beta and hopefully that will be the end of this ugly little bug...
Thanks to everyone who gave me details.
