Question about Malta and Axis supply

Post by avoran »

I know that capturing Malta adds 10 points to the Axis supply limit in NA. What, if any, is the effect of strat bombing it to 0 production?

Strat bombing the fort to 0 reduces the supply level on Malta so units can only repair 1 step/turn.

To increase Axis NA supply without capturing Malta you need to bomb the port and reduce the Allied airunit on the island. Can't remember the exact values for port/airunit but maybe those are in the manual...

There's a comment in the 'advice' section that says this, but nothing in the rules section and no details on the numbers :(

Alright, got around to look at the manual and found this on p.383:

Updated how Malta impacts axis supply in North Africa. It still has
impact on 10 supply points but before the axis had to capture the fort
to get those additional points. Now, they can increase their supply
points in North Africa by degradation of the Malta fighter and/or Malta
port capacity according to the following formula: Axis supply in Africa
increased by:

10 - (strength of fighter + strength of port) / 2.

How can I tell when the port is degraded? Is there anywhere I can see what my current supply limit is?

Nobody knows? When the port has a separate name (e.g. Rotterdam) you can see when it turns red, but with Malta (etc.) you can't.

And it would be handy if the current supply limit was somewhere in the supper status bar :)

If you click on the port hex you will see the info in the hexinfo area to the lower left. There is a separate icon for port defense and it can change color to yellow, orange and red. The icon looks like a coastal battery. The color will also define the port repair capacity. yellow = 2, orange = 1 and red = 0. That can be used to see the level of damage to the port.

Thanks! I should have thought of that. :)

Anybody else like the idea about an upper (not supper!) bar display for the N Africa supply limit?
