Sorry, very basic question but I could not see an answer on the FAQ.
Firstly what is a paired game?
Second is there an FAQ somewhere that gives some basic multiplayer guidelines like this?

If you issue a "paired game" you will play 2 battles , one from each side as will your opponent. Not sure where in the manual this info is, but basically that is all there is to it.

As for your second question, there is no FAQ as such, but look for the stickied Wiki. It should answer most of your questions.
