Hello,
I wondered if anyone has any information on the uniforms of troops of the Gallic Empire (preferably under Postumus 260-9AD) and any pointers on which sets of miniatures to use.
I would prefer to use 1/72 if possible.
Thanks!
Tetricus

I don't know anything about the "Gallic Empire" but mid to late 3rd century Romans sounds about right.Tetricus wrote:Hello,

For 1/72 figures, http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Periods.aspx would be a good place to start.

I can't recall any specific information on the troops of the "Gallic Empire". For what information is available on the C3rd the Ospreys on Roman military clothing and the legionary that cover the period are pretty good.

Not sure anyone does anything really suitable in 1/72 - I'd use the HAT late sets as the nearest as I consider getting the shield shape right is quite important for the period look. If you're up to modelling you could graft earlier heads onto them as the ridge helms they appear to be wearing are certainly more C4th.
