Question about Strongpoints, Forts and Radar.

Post by flakfernrohr »

I have noticed there are Strong points, Forts and Radar unit for several countries in the equipment and graphics files. Obviously a person wants an Italian strong point for Italian service. But I am curious to know if the forts and strong points and radar units depicted for maybe the same Axis or Allied country may have better strength and defensive capabilities according to not only the country because of equipment, but also when these units are depicted in the equipment list as either early war, mid war or late war. I think a German strong point from mid to late war might be more effective than say an early war Belgium or French unit of the same class. I do not know if this is the situation in the game with these units.

Also what is the effective range of radar?

Thanks again for all your expert help. This game is great.
Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?

From the Equipment file it seems that all the "generic" unnamed forts for both the Allied and the Germans share Soft Attack 15, Hard Attack 14.
So at the moment most forts are identical, be they in 1939 or 1945.

The range of radar is either 4 or 5 hexes (it's spotting value).

The easiest way to get unit statistics (that doesn't involve peeking at the equipment file or excerpts thereof, or unit editors etc):

* identify a scenario containing the unit you're interested in
* play that scenario, select hot seat
* if the unit isn't part of the first army, simply click "next turn" right away
* right-click your unit and examine all its statistics presented in a nice window :)
