Multiple installs
I'm thinking of getting this game for my son and I. Can I install this game on two computers or do I have to buy it twice?

@El Condoro, I believe you are 100% correct. To use MP, you need to log in with your name and email account used to register on this site. That is linked with your serial key, so only one MP user per license.
@johnsavage, you could play each other using Hot Seat mode, though. However, you would have to take turns on the same computer, so that would only work if your son lives with you or within close proximity to you.

This is true and hopefully will be addressed in a future patch. During SP, you get to see the AI moves and MP has turn replay. Hotseat really should have some form of it as well. Watching someone doing their turn is not the same and gives the other person more info than they would receive with a turn replay (fog of war becomes pointless if you can watch everything they are doing, so you might as well play with it off). The only other option is leave the room during the other person's turn, but then it can become quite jarring to come back and have no clue how you got in your current position (where are my engineers?! how did they die?!). In any event, it is still an option if they want to play each other.El_Condoro wrote:and, sorry to put a dampener on that idea, but hotseat doesn't have a turn replay.

MP obviously needs the same "watching the enemy move behind the Fog of War" mechanism as you get when playing the AI in single player, if not already implemented.
That is; first the enemy player makes all his moves, then completes his turn.
Now I get to see (or not, depending on FoW) my computer replay those moves as if they were made by the AI; without hesitation, undo's, and waiting between individual moves.

Multiplayer games over the PBEM server.El_Condoro wrote:I have it installed on 2 computers *but* I only have one user name for MP games. I think the user name and the registration of the game are linked, so if you wanted to play multiplayer games I think you would need 2 licences. Someone else may be able to confirm this.
Confirmed.
