Possible to list the # of turns in map selection for multi?

Post by Byeohazard »

Sometimes when choosing a multiplayer map i'd like to know if I'm signing up for a quick n dirty or the long haul. Is it possible to know how many turns the map is that you are choosing to play before you fire it up? Sorry if this has been brought up before..the web site is a bit slow today and I wasn't able to do a proper search for the topic.

On your first turn, it tells you how long the game is in turns.

If it is too long just surrender.

In MP any game can last months depending upon how often the players move so number of turns in not a guarentee of the length of a game.

It's an easy thing for designers to add the details into the description of the scenario. This is what I did for Hylan Valley (not my scen - sorry) where I added the date and the turns. It is limited but better than nothing.

Use the editor.
Edit, scenario parameters
2nd field down. It's a small field and only allows 2 lines of text.

Thanks for the info! Gave it a shot but my scenario discription is not showing up...seems like nothing changed. I opened Hyalan Valley map and added my discription in the field and saved.....but its still showing wo the turns listed. Any advise? Eventualy I'll figure it out.

The scenario pzscn file for Hylan Valley is in the Panzer Corps\Data folder - not My Games\scenario folder. Check that. Custom scenarios are in the My Games\scenario folder.

Yep. Make the changes in the dialog box and OK it. Then hit the save button before exiting - don't just exit. If you're already doing these things I'm at a loss as to why it's not sticking.

You need to change the "IDS_SCEN_DESCRIPTION" in the .pzloc file as well.
I just had this issue about 15 minutes ago.

Yeah and that is why I was so confused by it myself. I did a previous scenario and didn’t have to worry about the pzloc file either. Then this last one I did, I had to put it in.
Not that I’ve experimented with this but maybe it’s a if it finds it in the pzloc file it uses it, if it’s not there then it uses what you enter in the scenario editor.

I thought the OP was inferring joining a MP game from one that is available on the server.

There is no way to see that unless the host puts it in the short description under the password.

A more detailed scenario description, including dates, nations, starting prestige, and so on, is definitely something possible in the future.

I even still have pictures of mock ups somewhere... ;)

Yup. Thats what I'm refering to...multiplayer. Looks like Kerenskey has something in the works for the future. Good news!
