Optional activity in Lisbon, Friday 2nd September
Hi,
To make an even better usage of your (in somes cases quite long) trip to Portugal, we at AJSP are organizing an optional activity to ITC participants and followers to be held on Friday, the day before the main event.
The idea is an organized trip by bus, visiting the museum and battle site of Aljubarrota. Have a look at their website www.fundacao-aljubarrota.pt/
The visit will include:
Transport by bus from Lisboa and return
Visit to the museum
Guided visit to the battle site
Access to the Activity Park where you can have the chance to interact with replicas of medieval devices, including firing a trebuchet(!)
Lunch of nice, traditional Portuguese food at a restaurant in Alcobaça
The whole trip should last around 5 hours.
The cost per person of all this is 45 €. This activity is subject to a minimum number of 20 people.
Please let us now ASAP about your interest in participating.
Fernando

Lisbon military museum
The military museum in Lisbon is very good down by the docks. I especially liked the 1/8th scale Napoleonic equipment. Guns, limbers down the the farriers tools. There is also a map of the lines of Torres Vedras. It does close over lunch.
Just above the museum is a flea market - quite literally!!

I'm sorry for the late announcement. If we do it again next year, we'll certainly announce this kind of extra curricular activities earlier.
We were intending to schedule this to earlier in the morning, going direct to the battle site, with lunch afterward. But in order to make it possible to the greater possible number of people, the current schedule will be as follows:
Leave Lisbon (from Belém area) at 11h00.
Drive by minibus to Alcobaça (around 1h30 drive).
Lunch at Alcobaça (and old city with interest of its own, we'll spend around two hours there, incl. lunch).
Drive to S. Jorge, where the battlesite is placed (20 min drive).
Attend the multimedia show, guided tour to the battlesite, play with the replicas (we have about 2h30 to do this).
Return to Lisbon (expected arrival before 19h00).
Again, the availability of this activity is subject to a minimum number of people. The reason why is that some costs, like the bus and the guide would become too high per person for a very small group.
You can state your interest here, or you can mail me directly to blackbeard@clix.pt

Hi,
So far we have only four people from abroad who stated their interest/availability to participate in this organized tour. We can wait until next Sunday 21st too see if we can make this viable. If not, we are working on a Plan B to happen Friday afternoon, which will not be dependant on a minimum number of participants.
Watch this space.
Cheers,
Fernando

Yes Marc, you are one of the four. We are currently looking for alternatives/ways to make it viable with less people than expected.babyshark wrote:Am I one of those four? If not, please put me down as interested.blackbeard66 wrote:Hi,

Makes me wonder if it might not be better to go back to two team for the ITC, if countries want 2 teams. Would GB and USA be able to do so?USA - all lists approved
