Some scenarios are not what they are supposed to be
Most of us have fairly similar ideas about what to expect when we read scenario names.
Which unfortuntaly doesn't get delivered. While the scenarios itself are nice, the names are misleading and the scenario that people actually want is missing, i.e. people want D-DAY in Overlord, not "Cobra".
STALINGRAD
OVERLORD
Stalingrad is for most of us fighting in an encircled city. Allied General had a scenario that featured the encirclement and later city fight.
Panzer General and Panzer Corps?
PG and PC have an identical "Stalingrad" scenario that is about the conquest of the Caucasus with Stalingrad as end point.
PG also has a "Caucasus" scenario using the same map where the Africa Corps links up with the army group from the south.
Allied General offers the "true" Stalingrad map that is about what players expect.
Overlord is the name of the invasion that is mostly depicated as "D-Day", the night and day when paratroopers seized objectives behind enemy lines and soldiers hit the beaches of Normandy.
Panzer General and Allied General have "D-Day" and "Cobra", the breakout from Normandy all over France.
Panzer Corps has Overlord. The day after D-Day. It is actually Operation Cobra, the mentioned breakout of Normandy.
I hope "D-Day" and "Stalingrad" will become part of an "Allied Corps" sequel where players take the role of the attacker. Or patched into PC.
While I particularly liked PC's "Stalingrad" and really disliked "Overlord" (not what I expected it to be plus it showcased the flaws of the AI like no other map - the AI never really tried to take Paris, which is key for all victory conditions) my criticism is not aimed at the qualities of the scenarios.
They just were not what I expected them to be. It is really unfortunate that we have these maps instead of the "real thing".

An Allied version of Panzer Corps is on our to-do list.... but first the Africa expansion. The game played from the Allied side needs and will get some proper attention. PzC Wehrmacht tells the story from the Axis side in which you can play with the Allies in the SP scenarios as an extra, but the game is balanced around the Axis. An Allied campaign should and will be approached quite different.
I told this many times before Panzer Corps: Wehrmacht is just the first game of the series, all in due time.

I hope you expand on PzC "itself" and not make every game a new "release".
I also think that unit balancing must not be that different for an Allied and Axis campaign....IMO that was a major "flaw" when I switched from PG to AG.
The point that would make the game really really much more fun (IMO) is if there where a lot of scenarios in the campaign to "choose" from after each victory.
Example, you could decide to go to an "expedition" to finnland (but skip norway for that) - or similar to the "Kiev" or Moscow decision.

Standalone expansions have become quite popular as they seem to sell better than pure expansions. But I will leave iz to the Slitherine/Matrix/Lordz to figure out what makes the most profit.
A cool idea would be to have "expanded" campaigns for owning several standalone "Panzer Corps".
Say Panzer Corps WEHRMACHT+AFRIKA+ALLIES => ultra long grand campaign.
Still I don't want to backstab Iscaran and Ranta, I think Panzer Corps: Wehrmacht could use some more scenarios as part of the coming 1.01 or 1.1 or whatever patches.

I've pointed out this problem in other threads too.
As I see it, the Normandy scenario is the weakest, in a game that overall is very good.
Well, the problem is, that many gameplay - features (which I hope, they come) would not be transferable between the single versions (since hardcoded in the cpp layer). That has pros (if you don't like these features), but also cons (I'd hate, if I was not able to have the xxx feature in wehrmachts pc if it was in a later allied general available, for example other hero skills, etc).Fritz wrote:I fully agree. Since the modding community here is great, there is no need for an expansion which requires the main programm.
Thats the point, I fear
