Unable to use forum account in game or on Slitherine website
Hello,
My account was created here on the forum, but I can't use it to sign in the Multiplayer of Panzer Corps, or on Slitherine.com. When I try the Multiplayer I receive "Invalid login or password". When I try the slitherine website, I receive no error message and the page simply reloads. Is this normal? I suppose I can use the sign up from slitherine, but in this case what will I do with this forum account?
Thanks.

First of all, something is really, really strange... The system behaves as if I have 2 different accounts: one for the forum, another for the site. I'll try to give as much details as possible. So here we go (in chronological order):
1. I've purchased the game without having an account.
2. After buying, I've created the account that I'm using now, by signing up from here on the Forum (not from the main site). I used Opera web browser.
3. I tried playing Multiplayer and encountered the problem first described in this Topic (I could log in on the forum, but not on the main site or in game). I also tried using Firefox web browser.
4. At VPaulus's suggestion, I used the reset password function. And from here the "fun" part starts.
5. After reseting, I am now able to sign in from the main website for the first time.
6. Now I've noticed that I have a personal page where I can register my game using the serial number. So I registered Panzer Corps. Probably this was the cause that prevented me from playing multiplayer, however I cannot try now because I'm at work
. I suppose that if I had an account and purchased the game while being signed in to that account, the game will have automatically registered.
7. I've changed my password to the one I was using before.
8. At this moment, I cannot use my password to sign in on the forum. I have to use the one generated by the system when I used "reset password".
9. When I sign in on the main site, I can use my password AND the password generated by the system (both work for my username on the main site)
10. If I try to change my password from the forum interface, I'm redirected to an empty (no fields completed) Sign Up page (same as seen here).
11. If I try to change my password from the forum interface WHILE I'm also signed in on the main site, I'm redirected to the Edit Info page which is, basically, the same as the Sign Up page, but with Login, E-Mail, City and Country fields already completed. However, although a new password will work on the main site, it will not change anything on the forum (where I must still use the password generated by the system).
So this is what I'm experiencing now. I will return with info regarding the multiplayer.
Anyway, I suppose I have to wait until the holiday is over until a solution can be found

Yes, sorry for that inconvenience. I'll report this thread to Iain, when he's back.DreadWing wrote:So this is what I'm experiencing now. I will return with info regarding the multiplayer.

But please return with the new info.
Thanks for the quick support.VPaulus wrote:Yes, sorry for that inconvenience. I'll report this thread to Iain, when he's back.

I tested the Multiplayer and now I can sign in. The good news is that it only works with one password (the one that I chose). So only the issue with the forum and the main site remains.

Yes, the problem is still present.
URL for the forum: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/
URL for the main site: http://www.slitherine.com/
On the forum I can only use the generated password to sign in. If I click on Slitherine in the top left corner I'm redirected to main site, but I'm not automatically signed in as you say it should be.
On the main site I can sign in using both the generated password and the password that I chose. If I sign in with the generated password and click on the Forum button, I'm redirected here and I'm automatically signed in. However, if I sign in using the password that I chose, I'm not signed in after reaching the forum.

Unable to login to MP
Hi tech support,
I have a similar problem. I couldn't login to MP because my password was too long! (The password text field seems to limit the no. of characters entered)
So I went to slitherine.com, clicked on "My Page" => "Edit Info" and changed my password. After changing my password, I still can't login to MP using my new password. Also, I can't login to the forums using the new password (but the old password still works for the forums)
Please Help!

Please log as a bug
Hi,
please could you log this as a bug in your issue tracking system?
The Slitherine website allows users to choose arbitrary passwords. If a user's password is longer than the limit allowed by the forum (appears to be 8 characters), the user will be unable to login to PBEM. The forum, however, will accept the first 8 characters! If the user then changes his/her password but is unaware of the limitations, they still won't be able to login to PBEM, but now they won't be able to log onto the forum either using their new password (but can do so using their old password).
The answer for me was to reset my password, but clearly this is less than ideal. My suggestion would be to point this out on the user creation / change password pages & validate the user password to ensure it meets the requirements.
