Unable to login to multiplayer from my friends copy of game

Post by denisnm »

I have played multiplayer games from my copy of Panzer Corps but for some reason when I try to login from my friends copy of Panzer Corps (who has previously loged in with his acount before that) it always gives me 'Invalid Login or Password'. I have tried reseting my password but still to no avail (as in I can login to forums but not to multiplayer server from my friends copy of Panzer Corps). Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks!

I don't play in multiplayer (so far), so I'm not sure, but you've to remember that you've different serial numbers.
So probably you can't login (using your login details) in a game with a different serial number.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, this might actually be some strange Sliterine issue here. When I login through the Slitherine main page with my password, it works fine, but when I go to forum it does not recognize me as logged in. So when I click on Login in the forum page, and enter my password it gives me invalid username password. BUT, when I use older password (from when I did a reset) its actually able to login. But in muliplayer when I tried to use either of the passwords it still wasn't able to login.
Oh, and as far as I know the user account is not tied to any key...at least thats what I believe here (could be wrong).

Like I've said, I don't know much about the MP procedures, but I'll pass this.
Thanks.

Serial key is linked to the installation not the log in.
If the log in account does not match the serial key found in PanzerCorps.txt, you cannot log in.

So if you want to log in with your account on a computer that uses a different serial key, you have to replace the PanzerCorps.txt on that computer with the one linked to your account.

It's something to hopefully be addressed in the future (logging into multiplayer from any computer only requires a valid account, not a matching serial key as well), but for now that's how it works.

As for the main Slitherine website and password usage, if you are having problems with that you'll have to contact Slitherine for details about that.

You cannot log in from another users copy of the game. This is just the way it works - only they can log in on their copy. It might be possible to change if there was enough demand for it but it would require server and client changes so not a simple fix.

Allowing people to watch games in progress would be great - although how to prevent cheating (even though it would need another copy of the game!).

Cheers
