Moscow or Kiev? which way to go?

Post by Powell »

ok, High Command has given me the opportunity to chose: North directley to Moscow or South to Kiev.
i´am not Sure which way to go.
If i beat Moscow with a decisive, the war is over in Russia?
But then my troops gain lesser experience to beat the USA?
Or the long way via Kiev
Which way do you Generals use?

and can someone tell me the campaign tree for both way´s?

I usually go with Kiev and the extra scenario. However, it is a limited deployment map (only 18 core slots plus any SE units you may have). I use it as a training exercise because it's pretty easy. I sit out all my most experienced units and let the newer units gain some experience. Also, after defeating Moscow (must be Decisive), you go to the US East Coast. There is a big jump of available slots for that one (35 core slots), so I buy some units in advance of that one and train them so they are not all "rookies" for the big invasion.

I think Kiev 1st (see my AAR!) to help gain some experience...I actullay purchased 2 new units for that to help gain them some stars whilst a fair few other units sat it out.

I'm going to aim only for a marginal at Moscow 41 as then you get to play Stalingrad, Kursk and Moscow 43 to harvest some more experience before the USA.

Of course if you've not achieved a decisive in Sealion 40 then you'll need a decisive in Moscow 41 to get to Sealion 42 and then the USA

I see Horseman is on 354 posts ATM and has a Pz IIIL avatar. So it goes from StuG to cavalry to Pz IIIL. Does that make any sense to anyone? :) Anyway, there will be a few of these useless posts from me until I get to the magical 350 posts!

powell, if u had decisive victory in sea lion 40 (and defeat Britain), u can make two choices - have decisive victory in Kiev, then in Moscow 41 and quickly end up in USA. my favorite path is to have marginal victory in Kiev, Moscow 41 and Stalingrad, and then decisive victory in Kursk and Moscow 43. Kursk and Moscow 43 are relatively easy because u can purchase Tigers. and with that prolonged campaign, u can really make a lot of experience for your units and crush USA. USA armor is funny compared to your tigers, fighters are OK, but no match for your experienced upgraded fighters. for example - my upgraded fighters takes 10 strength to USA bombers (destroying them in a single turn with a single fighter), or my Tiger II tank taking 12 strength to USA's Sherman tank.
