Units not showing in strategic map

Post by jaywalker32 »

I'm playing a 1939 campaign, and have just successfully completed the France scenario with a decisive victory. During game play I noticed that when I toggled to Strategic Map view no units (Axis or Allies) were shown. I thought that this was perhaps just an unusual glitch with that particular scenario, and although inconvenient, continued playing the scenario through to the end.

I have now entered the deployment phase of the Sealion scenario, and again, no units are shown in the Strategic Map view. Is there a toggle button somewhere that I may have accidentally hit? I know that before the France scenario I was exploring the Editor and its functions. Is it possible that there is a function in the Editor that I may have inadvertently triggered that would cause this to happen in all scenarios?

OK, please ignore my post.

I exited the game, and restarted it, and everything looks fine now. Should have thought of doing that in the first place!

Next time in your strategic map, hit the TAB key...

Experience Ratio = (def exp level + 2)/(att exp level + 2)
Entrenchment Ratio = (def entr rate + 1) /(att entr rate + 1)

Oh no...it's happening again. Finished a session, then when I launched the game, the same problem occurred: units are not shown in the strategic map. I tried a couple of different scenarios and it was the same problem. I tried using Obsolete's tip of hitting the TAB key, but without any luck. Any other suggestions, please?

Hmm, the tab key toggles between Air and Ground units in both the Strat Map and the mini map. If its toggled on Air and you have no air units deployed it will be an empty strat map displayed. Not sure why it would always default in yor game to air (if that is the issue) Instead of using the hotkey have you tried the icon? (its right above the minimap on the lower right of screen, if you mouse over the buttons it will tell you what they do)

No, the problem is not with the TAB key; I tried it only in response to Obsolete's suggestion. The TAB key and the icon work fine when toggling between air and ground units in the Tactical maps. It won't work in the strategic map because nothing (air, ground or sea units) shows in the strategic map.

Spacebar toggles between showing the strategic map with or without units, the latter is easy to eg. see your victory points or deployment zones better. TAB circles through ground/ air units.

It might be a memory problem. How much memory do you have, do you have any memory-heavy programs running in background?

Very strange. When I started the game again this morning everything seems normal. I tried replicating the previous problem in various ways (e.g. exiting the game and restarting with and then without closing the launcher; loading previously saved games as well as starting new scenarios), but the problem doesn't seem to resurface.

I don't think it was a memory problem that caused it before. I have 4 GB of memory, and I don't have any other applications running when I play the game. Who knows...maybe it was the weather!

Oh well...thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
