Beginner questions about the 5th tutorial

Post by berndN »

I enjoy Panzer Corps very much. But the 5th tutorial is a hard one for me.
Capturing the town with my Gebirgsjaeger units as well as the arty is fine. But there are some or most towns secured with AA and artillery and infantry units.
From my last try it seems that disabling the artillary units has the most effect in weaking the other units. But somehow I'm a little lost how to approach such towns.
Some tips would be really helpfull dealing with this sort of defense.

And before I forget it an approach solution for the structures.

Thanks
:)

Played it yesterday late evening, so I can still remember that scenario quite good!

Key element is having at least 2 10,5 artillery pieces! In addition 2 stukas help also.
Use these units to either soften up the infantry in the towns or the artillery protection, depending on which you can reach better with your most experienced inf units. When they are under suppresion you have to attack with your strong inf units, which make good damage to those units. An important thing is the positioning of your units, so that at least 2 inf units can reach the town hex in the turn where the artillery suppressed it. The artillery I tried to get with tanks from behind.

Hope this helps a bit.

About structures, pioneers and paratroopers are especially effective against them. But normal tactics should work too - artillery fire, maybe bombers, assault with infantry or tanks. Note that structures are hard targets, so high hard attack rating is essential.
