The server did go down temporarily a few seconds after release - sorry about that but it seems to be holding up now!

Matrix Games does not have it available yet. I thought they were going up at the same time.... or am I missing something? Trying to handle issues at work and do this at the same time so I could be.

At order the price of $39,99 was converted to EUR 29.99 + 6 VAT = EUR 35,99. Why do I have to pay extra VAT? EUR 35,99 when converted is even more expensive than $39,99.

EDIT: Ok, is on the homepage that price is ex vat. Because it is written really small I overlooked it.

Any ideas why the game is more expensive from Matrix (£32.39) than Slitherine (£29.99) in the UK?

Unsurprisingly Slitherine got my money; paid for and downloaded without a hitch

I would think that it is the exchange rate. Remember Matrix and Slitherine are one company. Matrix covers North America, Slitherine Europe. So Matrix prices start in USD the switch to pounds. Slitherine starts in pounds, and if someone orders i the US then switches to USD.
