Soviet Plane Images

Post by _Augustus_ »

Hi all,

Anyone else experiencing this? The images for Soviet FTRs and TACs at various levels are mix of plain dark green with the red star and camouflaged scheme. Whenever the map is filled with Soviet air units at mixed tech levels it takes some attention to make sure which air unit is TAC and which is FTR. In case of the Soviets the different schemes change back and forth between the FTRs and TACs and in addition to this the Soviet plane images(or types) seem to have a relative same silhouette between them and it makes the situation worse. Once you have grown custom the FTRs the plain ones and TACs camouflaged it changes back and forth.

Don't get me wrong. Obviously it would be just finetuning, but Soviet plane images are the only ones of the major powers I confuse at a glance on a regular bases if not paying attention.

Just my two cents,

The air unit images are replicas of the real air units the Russians used in WW2. E. g. the tactical bomber image is from the Shturmovik bomber. It can't be helped that it looks a bit like some of the fighters.

Yes, and lovely images they are. Other nations just happen to have either clearly different silhouette and/or clearly different colour schemes. I guess my suggestion to improve the Soviet situation would be to have either all levels of FTRs in plain and all levels of TACs in camo. Or vice versa.

Finetuning but still would be nice,

_augustus_ //who is 99.9% certain that there was a unit in camo/plain scheme of a type X plane to justify the selection of image in one scheme even if most of that X type planes might have had the different scheme historically.
