The random damage really needs to be fixed.
Too many times I see the combat reversed.
Attack where you kill 4 and loose 1 but actual combat is reversed.
This has happened twice in the last two moves.

I don't intend to change this aspect of the game, because I don't want to reduce all combat mechanics to two numbers you see upfront, which you can take for granted. Expected losses often lie, and a good player is supposed to understand how combat works and which combats involve bigger risks than others; he can then decide if he is willing to take the risk or not. It is a whole layer of complexity, and is inline with "easy to play - hard to master" principle. Besides, I have seen good games which were MUCH more random than PzC, and in fact, even PG itself was much more random.
Indeed, too much predictability would reduce each scenario to a simple strategic puzzle, figure out the proper pieces and places to move and you win every time. While the game does feel a bit like a puzzle at times, retaining elements such as some element of randomness in the battle results is essential.
