Default options for new players
Just did a clean install of RC4 (a bit late, I know) and started a new campaign and noticed that options "tutorial messages" and "unmoved units warning" are off by default. Shouldn't they be on? I know, there is the tutorial, but still, if someone starts their first game of PC, even if they did not choose the tutorial, those options should be useful and lowering general frustration level.

Some settings are stored in the windows registry. If you didn't manually completely remove those registry keys, next time you install the game they will be the default.Borsook wrote:Just did a clean install of RC4 (a bit late, I know) and started a new campaign and noticed that options "tutorial messages" and "unmoved units warning" are off by default. These are the defaults, I installed the game on a clean system so unless something weird happened the settings are as they were set by the devs.VPaulus wrote:Some settings are stored in the windows registry. I thought it was just a clean RC4 install and not a clean system install. Then you're right and I agree with you. They should be the default.Borsook wrote: These are the defaults, I installed the game on a clean system so unless something weird happened the settings are as they were set by the devs.

But I assume these were complaints from beta testers, who very often are more advanced than the average player. The latter may find them useful, esp since they are very nicely context related and may cover some thing not important in the actual tutorial. Just my opinion but I'd suggest putting them as on for the first run, whichever campaign it is (esp since it's pretty easy to accidentally choose something different than tutorial).Rudankort wrote:When tutorial messages appeared for the first time, they were turned on by default, and we recieved many complaints. So they are off now, but if you start tutorial campaign, they are turned on.
