Undo feature?
Hi, I can't see any way of undoing a move, and I read a thread dated a few years back talking about this and why it wasn't implemented initially and the constant save work around. Did it change in the latest version? Personally I find it very frustrating since it is a common feature on similar games. Thanks!
Re: Undo feature?
This has been discussed on the years in several different threads. The general conclusion, or reasoning, reached in all them was that being able to undo a move would be an exploit with respect to the fog of war. Even if your moved uncovered nothing new the fact that it uncovered nothing new is information.Constans wrote:Hi, I can't see any way of undoing a move, and I read a thread dated a few years back talking about this and why it wasn't implemented initially and the constant save work around. Re: Undo feature?
It is of course the devs prerogative to make such a decision, although I disagree with it. The same exploit is possible by saving and reloading the game file, and excluding the undo feature just inconveniences the honest player. Any way, I have no interest in opening the debate again if it has been decided by the devs, as reasonable people can disagree on this matter.rkr1958 wrote:This has been discussed on the years in several different threads. Re: Undo feature?
In the old Panzer General/Allied General games (anyone remember those?) there was an undo feature that worked only if that move didn't uncover any 'fog of war' hexes/units. In other words, you could undo any move over 100% known & revealed territory. It would be nice to have such a feature in CEAW.rkr1958 wrote:This has been discussed on the years in several different threads. I also think that it's ethically sound to reload a turn to recover from an "oops" move so long as you don't gain any advantage in any way from doing so--i.e. the advantage of scouting out areas, getting better combat results, etc. I have sometimes been forced to reload a turn due to a power outage or other unavoidable interruption, and in those cases I do my best to duplicate the original moves. I'm sure we've all been in that situation before.
