Download or Disc?

Post by unicorn77 »

Hello.

Been recommended to take a look at BA and it looks good! However, before I make the purchase, is it worth paying the extra five or so English quids for a disc? I hate Steam games where even with the disc you still need hours of broadband time to get started plus offline mode can be tricky. So does the disc allow you to get straight on with the game without any online trickery? (excluding updates which I'm happy to downloaded on a one-off basis).

And is there a manual? I suppose it's too much to ask for a printed version, but presumably both disc and download include at least a pdf or some such?

Thanks.

According to some, the method used by Matrix Games/Slitherine, or is that Slitherine/Matrix Games :) is the way most wish games were sold.

The program downloads when as a digital download, the exact same thing you get on a disc ie the full program no strings attached. All you require is your serial, and you don't need to do any hoops with it either. Granted, this game shines mainly through MP and that means online of course, not that you can't play offline against the game AI.

So no, there is no online 'trickery' as you requested. The game pdf manual though is such a short read you likely will wonder if a game could ever be more simple to learn. The interface has set new standards in 'easy' to use. The learning curve is almost entirely skill, not interface based.

There is a printed manual in BA at the moment but we're looking to change to print on demand which has other advantages but no manual.
