Core Units

Post by Steakenglisch »

I have a question respective the number of core units.

Like in PG we can buy 0 to 5 Units per Map, the numbers depending by design.

Whats about the alternative to have from the first map the oportunity to buy the whole core Army ...
in this case you can buy more units, that will create more mixed core armys with different tech. Units from PzIII up to Tigers ... etc.
or you can conserve the prestige for hightech units and than you have a smaller core army.

Is it possible to make this feature as an option, at the begin of the campaign you mark a checkbox for all core units from the begining or step by step or is this impossible?

i hope my english is good enough that you understand my idea.

What are your opinion on this idea?

building off the OP I would like the option to disband one of my core units. Being stuck with a unit once you buy it is maddening.

I would also like to see disband option or even a merge units option. Like in the real war units that were decimated were merged together to form new battle group at times. Would add little more realism to game. Not sure that it is possible to do but would add nice twist to game.

Disband option exists (D hotkey), but you don't even need it because the size of the reserve is unlimited. So you can leave a unit you don't need in reserve and buy and deploy a different unit instead, but who knows - maybe later, when you are low on prestige or campaign situation changes you may need that unit in reserve again.

Regarding the original suggestion. This is exactly the reason why starting scenarios (like Poland) are so small. You have freedom to build your core in the direction you want. And if you want to really start from scratch, you can disband all units and buy new ones (there is even a prestige cheat :) ). Making an official option for this in 1.0 is unlikely, but maybe in the future, we shall see.
