XIIth Montmeló (Barcelona) FOG Tournament

The tournament will take place in Montmelo, near Barcelona on the 16-17th July 2011

Registration fee: 20 euros before 3rd July, 30 euros thereafter

Theme: Rome to Charlemagne

Lists: 800 points. All lists from 425AD to 853AD and within the geographical limits of the Roman Empire. The lists from the following books can be used:

Legions Triunphant: all lists except: Dominate Roman, Kushan or Indo-Skythian, Hephthalite Hunnic.

Decline and Fall: all lists except: Ghaznavid, Khurasanian dynasties, Bedouin dynasties, Dailami dynasties.

Wolves from the sea: all lists

Oath of Fealty: Only Feudal Catalan.

Terrain: Terrain will be set by the organisers based on historical battles of the period. A couple of WOODS and STEPPE tables will be fairly extreme, the rest being mainly DEVELOPPED, AGRICULTURAL and HILLY. Each table will contain permanent terrain which cannot be moved and mobile terrain which can. After resolving the initiative rolls, the attacker chooses which long table edge he will deploy from and the defender can then move up to two pieces of mobile terrain depending on the roll of 1d6:

1-2 No movement
3-4 Move up to 6 MU
5-6 Move up to 12 MU or pivot

The camps are then placed as normal.

Objectives: Each player will be provided with an objective marker of 4x4cm to mark an area of the table that must be controlled. The attacker first places his objective up to 50cm away from the defender’s camp. The defender then places his objective up to 50cm away from the attacker’s camp and more than 50cm from the other objective. Objectives cannot be placed in impassable terrain.

Possession of the objective marker in the opponent's half of the table counts as the temporary loss of 4 attrition points for the opponent. To control an objective a player must have a steady or disrupted BG on top of the marker or been the last one to have moved such a BG over the marker. If a player recovers his objective marker, he recovers the 4 attrition points. If a player holds the opponent’s objective marker and captures his camp he automatically wins the game counting the victor’s losses as normal.

Events: Each table will be assigned an event to reflect the historical battle it is based upon. For example: flank marches get a -1 modifier; the loss of a C-in-C or the loss of the camp causes an extra attrition point loss.

Rounds: First round drawn by lot thereafter Swiss chess system. Players from the same club won’t play each other in the first three rounds and only in the fourth round if they are playing for the first three places.

Dinner on Saturday night can be sandwiches during the game or restaurant meal afterwards, player's choice.

Saturday 16th July:

1st round: 09:00 - 12:30
Lunch: 12:45 - 14:00
2nd round: 14:15 - 17:45
3rd round: 18:00 - 21:30

Sunday 17th July:

4th round: 09:00 a 12:00
Prize giving: 12:30 a 13:00

Scoring system: All players start with 0 points. Players inflicting 4 attrition points or less on their opponent will score 0 points.
