Unable to write to disc error?

Post by KenPortner »

When I try to start CEAW Gold I get a message that says something to the effect of "please save to a disc you can write to"

I tried to start it by right clicking on the icon and running as administrator but that didn't help.

Not sure this is a CEAW specific problem as I've had some similar problems ever since a malware attack, but any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it?

Thanks.
Please don't create duplicate threads on the same topic. I've deleted that second post so we can keep all the discussion in this thread.

Now back to the topic.

Assuming that the location that you've installed CEAW to is NOT write protected, the CEAW folder in your My Documents folder is also open and you're running with administrator privileges then the malware attack seems to be the prime suspect. Especially, if you're experiencing this same issue with other applications. Either that, or your harddrive is going bad.

Sorry about the duplicate message. I wanted to put down the precise error message and didn't see how to edit my prior post.

Anyway, I've saved the game in both harddrives and get the same message on each. They are not write protected and there is plenty of space on each.

I had a similar message for another game but right clicking on the icon and running as administrator solved that problem. That fix is not working here.

What do you mean when you say "the my document folder is open"?
