I'd start with Osprey for uniforms etc, they don't have anything specifically for the Protestants, but there are a couple of books on the Imperials (you'd need to check these out but they often pictures of the opposition) have plus one on the Battle of Lutzen. Also, these sites have some flags that may be of use:

There doesn't seem to have been much difference in dress between the Imperials and the armies that marched against them.

It depends on the army your interested in.

I have built an army under the command of Ernst Mansfeld in the early part of the war.

After a long period researching German sources I came to the impression that there was no proper uniforms at least not in the early part 1620ish.

Along side the German merceneries he employed Scots and english and Dutch soldiers in various regiments. The Cavalry seemed to outnumber the foot by at least 2 to 1, it being easier to live of the land while mounted or so they said.

Due to the amount of infomation contact me off the forum with any thing you would like answered.

Reference flags I've been only able to find out about a few of Mansfelds flags in a old German book.

Before someone mentions it Mansfeld was a notorious mercenery but one of the leading Protestant Generals in the early part of the war, and no worse than the imperial generals at the time.
