Rail bug in Romania/Bulgaria after they changed sides!

Post by zechi »

I have noticed a bug after Romania/Bulgaria surrender and change sides. My Soviet units in Romania/Bulgaria can only be railed into cities controlled by the western Allies and in Romania/Bulgaria, but not to Soviet controlled cities!

Look here:

The Soviet GAR can be railed to the Italian cities, but not to the Soviet controlled ones.

What about Soviets units outside of Romania and Bulgaria? Can they be railed as normal?

I think this is caused by the western Allies controlling Bulgaria and Romania. It's because we have only 2 sides and USSR can't control any countries.

Earlier we made code to prevent the Allies from railing into Soviet territory and vice versa to avoid mass rail movement from Iraq / Persia to southern Russia or vice versa.

For the Romanian units to be able to rail to Soviet controlled cities they need to enter a hex controlled by the Russians. Then they can use the Russian rail network.

So to fix this situation we need to allow the rail movement between Allied and Russian rail network. That was not possible in Persia / southern Russia and opening up that possibility will have game balance consequences.

Yes, they can be railed as normal.

But the Soviets captured Romania and Bulgaria and not the western Allies, so they should control both countries. It is kind of weird that the Soviet units cannot be railed to Soviet cities, but could be railed to Italy or even France.

If I understand what Borger is saying I think the CEaW game engine only allows German and UK/USA to have minor allies. The USSR can conquer a country and control that CONQUERED country but the CEaW game engine does NOT allow the Russians to control an active minor country. Only the Germans and UK/USA can.

I was going to write about this, too. Soviet or Romanian units in Soviet-allied Romania cannot rail into the USSR or into USSR-controlled territories. Likewise, Soviet units in the USSR or Soviet-controlled territories cannot rail into Soviet-allied Romania.
