When two charging units collide

Post by atatnet »

Thoughts on the following situation please:

Player A's BGs
A=HF facing right
B=HF facing up

Player B's BGs
Z=LH facing left

A----Z
A----Z
A----Z
A----Z
----------
----BBBB

Player A declares BG A and BG B to charge BG Z.

BG Z successfully evades far, far away.

Player 1 then completes BG A's charge move (after rolling for VMD) and the situation now looks something like this:

-------A
-------A
-------A
-------A
------------
----BBBB

Now Player A tries to complete BG B's charge move. After rolling for VMD, BG B's charge move would end up in the centre of BG A.

The question is: how does BG B complete the charge move?

IIRC looking at your plan unit B would wheel to follow unit Z dropping a base if necessary, there seems to be plenty of room to do so since unit Z would have to split the angle of charge of units A and B.

Thanks for the quick reply david53. :)
Your point is noted.

My "diagrams" are simplified due to constraints of using text to represent FoG BGs in this forum.

But: assuming the situation where BG B's completed charge move does end up in the centre of BG A. how would this be resolved?

IIRC If a BG can't complete its full charge move the charge is then cancelled, it would not burst through its own troops unless once again IIRC it failed its CMT not to charge in that case it would have to burst through its friends. So in a normal charge it will not burst through its friends, with the charge cancelled it can move in the movement phase.

Hope this is what your looking for.

Got it!
So, Player 1 can choose which charge to complete-either BG A or BG B- and to cancel the charge of the other BG?

Actually I think you roll to see which bg moves further (with VMD and that BG moves first.
The other would then attempt to make its' charge and move as far as possible and stop.

The only time the furthest moving BG must move first is during pursuits. If a BG cannot complete its charge the charge is cancelled as Dave said.
