The 0.98 beta is quite optimized for CPU usage, but some small further optimization can be achieved. When you turn volume of the music and sounds to 0 the MP3 playing is still active. It takes roughly 50% of the total PanzerCorps CPU in idle on my old HP nx8220. On my Windows 7 the additional "audiog" process is take 2% of the 3.4 GHz CPU - this is some kind of addon to sound driver present in Vista and Win 7. This is not big deal for newer laptops but can help to save some battery on older ones.
The CPU peaks are AI movement. Flat parts are just map display. Screens from Process Explorer.
The optimization can switch off playing completely when music volume is 0.
