Cannot launch MP game

After installing the recent update I get an error message when I try to continue my MP game:

Empty string trying to find string value: CAMPAIGN in <FromData> (0)

When clicking "ok" another message occurs:

Unhandled Exception ExpCode: 0x80000003 ExpFlag: 0 ExpAddress: 0x756822A1 Please report!

Was the game created in a version a significant time ago - perhaps a few versions back? This isn't an issue we have seen before I don't think. It's very odd.

Can you let me know the exact game (opponent+map+last update) - unless of course you are only playing one game.

Only one game running at the moment vs gollummen, Villers Bretonneux, last update 10 May 2011. And yes, the game was started some time ago.

Sorry for the delay. It does indeed seem to be missing some data - although I can't see how. If as you say it is an older game, is it possible that is spans more than one update? We aren't able to test against every past version of the game, so it could be that the version that saved the prior turn was missing critical data.

I could try rolling back to the previous turn, but I'm not sure you wouldn't run in the same issue...

But let me know if you would like to try, otherwise I can remove the game. Sorry we can't get you playing.

Thanks for you efforts, Pip. If you can try to roll back to the previous turn without spending too much time and effort it will be welcome. Otherwise remove the game.

I've rolled it back - hopefully the game will continue, although I have no idea what would have caused such a specific missing data element.

You shouldn't be able to run the game without using the correct version - there is a serverside check. What scenario were you two playing?

I think I have tracked down the issue - although it's pretty wierd. I think Gollummen is running on Windows 2000? I will PM him in case he doesn't check the forums, or you can perhaps ask him ingame. I shall get it fixed for the next update - although we don't officially support W2K
